Dr. Litterio's research interests include digital pedagogies, professional and technical communication, contract grading, and Online Writing Instruction (OWI). Her work appears in journals such as Technical Communication Quarterly, Computers and Composition, Assessing Writing, and the Journal of Business and Technical Communication. Her current work examines the effectiveness of online writing courses and how digital platforms can align with teaching writing concepts.
Her innovative and student-centered teaching practices have been recognized through multiple university-wide awards. In 2025, she and her colleagues Dr, Bean, Dr. Davis, and Dr. Ferrante were awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Collaboration to Improve Teaching for their initiatives to embed career readiness programs within the English Major. In 2023, Dr. Litterio was recognized with the Dr. V. James DiNardo Award, presented to a full-time faculty member whose contributions include mastery of subject matter, enthusiastic teaching style, and personal attention to students. She was also the recipient of the Innovative Teaching with Technology Award in 2018 for her collaboration on a pilot project using Omeka in her Technical Writing course.
Dr. Litterio serves as Co-Coordinator of the Writing Program Administration (WPA) where she oversees the first-year writing program including placement, faculty development, and programming. Dr. Litterio is a former Coordinator of the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program, where she initiated a faculty learning community (FLC) focused on engaging first-year writers and subsequently presented her research at the International Writing Across the Curriculum (IWAC) Conference. She currently serves as Internship Coordinator for the English department.
